| Prairie Star 38" x 46"
I loved working with these rich navy, caramel and coffee colors. I don't do "scrappy" very well, so this is "planned" scraps! I like the simple color combination. This quilt would be lovely however, done in multiple colors of scraps. I love this little quilt. When I stand in my front yard, and look toward the sky, I see millions of twinkling stars. It reminds me of a simpler time.

Cinnamon Sticks 31" x 46"
I had more fun making this little quilt. I love setting quilts on-point. I enjoy seeing the possibilities of very simple blocks taking on a whole new shape, and interest by simply turning the block on its point. I collected 10 of my favorite red fabrics and 10 red and tan prints. However...I made myself a little nuts because I kept trying to create a pattern with the fabric selections, instead of just mixing them up. My advice, let go, and mix it up!
While pinning the blocks to my design wall, one thought kept going through my mind...sticks. Cinnamon sticks. I hope you enjoy making this little quilt as much as I did.

| "Barn Dance"24" x 24"
Do you have an "orphan block" that you won in a block exchange, or you have a favorite block that just speaks to you?
This is a very simple way to take that block and create a little wall quilt, or a table topper.
At Piecemaker's Quilt Shop (my playground!) we had just un-packed these beautiful black fabrics from Jo Morton, and then we had ordered some beautiful taupe and sage green Civil War reproduction fabrics from Windham. I couldn't wait to take home some fat quarters and play! While working on this block, I was thinking of autumn colors. Olive Green, bittersweet, red and golden plaids and small prints. This is a long way from my original thoughts. There are also less triangles and less borders! Sometimes less IS more!

| "Cottage Stars"
49" x 61"
A simple yet elegant quilt using pretty floral prints from Moda and Benartex. I found a border print from Benartex with lovely little birds, coral pink flowers, olive green leaves, and had to use it! I went through my stash of fat quarters of assorted light fabrics and coral pinks that I've been collecting. Finally, the perfect border fabric, and a simple pattern to show case the fabrics!

"Missouri Rosebud's" 40" x 40"
One of my favorite quilt blocks is the Rosebud block. Teamed up with the Missouri Star Block, it creates interesting secondary design patterns. Simply changing the coloration on some of the corner units created a spark of contrast with the ivory print. This quilt utilizes setting triangles that are exaggerated in size to allow for a mock border with the solid red fabric. We could have trimmed the setting triangles all the way to the 1/4" seam allowance, but I really liked the affect we had with leaving the setting triangles a bit larger.
